Qualifying Guidelines

GRANTS PASS HIGH SCHOOL TRACK AND FIELD
Qualifying for Rotary

Each year we receive a number of questions concerning the qualifying standards for the Rotary Invitational. Beginning in 2003, we opted to post the number of entrants who would be selected to participate in each event rather than utilize a fixed qualifying mark. This enables us to conduct the meet on schedule.

By using this website and www.athletic.net, we are able to post entries on the Monday prior to the Invitational. We also update the web site entries on the Friday before the meet to reflect any scratches. This way, our Friday list is as current as possible.

The number of competitors is limited in each varsity event as follows:

16 competitors: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, all hurdles races, all relays, long jump and triple jump;

18 competitors: 1500m

20 competitors: 3000m

24 competitors: discus, javelin and boys shot put**

12 competitors: high jump and pole vault

The number of competitors is limited in each Frosh/Soph division to 8 competitors except as follows: 800m (12); 1500m (16); and 3000m (18).

For guidance on qualifying marks for previous years, check past years results pages.

** The Meet Director reserves the right to equitably allocate the number of girls shot putters among the varsity and frosh/soph divisions up to 32 competitors in total to provide better balance for this event. One consequence of this allocation is that there may be fewer than 24 varsity shot participants and greater than 8 frosh/soph participants.
