The Reinhart Volunteer Park in Grants Pass, Oregon, was the brain child of Rotarian, John Reinhart, when the old American Legion baseball park was removed due to roadway construction. Grants Pass Rotary started by donating $10,000 to get the project off the ground. During the past ten years EVERY sports organization, service club, plus many, many business owners and private citizens have donated not only their money but time and effort to make the 57 acre Riverside West All Sports Park available to all sports enthusiasts. There was little to no cost to the city for the land and improvements and on July 31, 1997, the project was given to the city. There are horseshoe pits, basketball and tennis courts, sand volleyball pits, softball and baseball diamonds, soccer fields, plenty of paths, gazebos and ponds including the wall with the Rotary logo shown on the right. The Mark Brandt Wall of Fame honors outstanding local athletes in the tradition of the late Mark Brandt. Here we go again: Morrison Centennial Park is the project of all three Rotary clubs in the Grants Pass area. |
